Treating Dyslexia - What Do Statistics on Dyslexia Tell Us?

February 28th, 2009 by findout

Dyslexia is a neurological condition that affects the brain’s ability to interpret signals received from the eyes. It causes problems in reading.

According to statistics on dyslexia, approximately 10% of the total population has some form and degree of dyslexia.

School age children are now routinely screened for this, but most of those of us who graduated from elementary school more than about 15 years ago have never been screened or tested.

These statistics on dyslexia mean that there are millions of adult dyslexics out there. 95% of these do not know that dyslexia is the root cause of their problems with reading and manipulating the symbols used for words and numbers. They all desperately need to take an adult dyslexia test, but they don’t know it…

Most of what we now know about dyslexia, we have learned in the last 15-25 years. Before that our educational systems made life very difficult for dyslexic students. They were unfairly branded as “slow learners” or “underachievers”. Dyslexics are not stupid, not mentally impaired. They just see things and learn things differently from non-dyslexics.

Most were embarrassed by their problems and tried to hide them, many developed elaborate defense mechanisms, like avoiding any situation or job or activity that might require that they read something or be required to read aloud. These defense mechanisms are still mostly in place; makes adult dyslexics hard to find.

If these people could be found now and encouraged to take an adult dyslexia test, their dyslexia could be diagnosed and they could be helped to overcome their dyslexix problems and lead normal, more fulfilling lives.

Furthermore, there are now ways of treating dyslexia. For example, a British businessman, has recently developed a new way of treating dyslexia. The treatment has proven 80+% effective in the tests run. Subjects have overcome their prevlearning problems, symptoms have disappeared.

Click on the links above to learn more about dyslexia, its symptoms, how to get a home dyslexia test for adults and lots more information.

Coffee - A Part Of Our Food And Culture

February 27th, 2009 by findout

One of the most wonderful and sociable drinks that we all like to sample as we indulge in intelligent conversation is that of coffee and you have to wonder if it is really the fault of American’s that the coffee production and associated products are not what other people would like them to be. After all, very few Americans have had the chance to be exposed to or taste a brew made from very high quality, lightly roasted beans.

Typically Americans have been purchasing coffee that are often made from coffee beans that are under roasted and have a poor grade in comparison. So, there is not much of a surprise that the coffee would seam to be of a poor quality to people who are used to something better.

Americans are also often exposed to coffee that has been over roasted but placed in a fancy bag to make it appear gourmet and rather appealing. It is essential that one is aware that the bean used in created coffee grounds is just as essential as how the bean is roasted. As part of your family food recipes - if you prefer your coffee with plenty of sugar and milk or when the coffee grounds used are not of a good quality, it is better to use a darker blend. However, very good coffee is best enjoyed lighter. When a coffee is made from top-notch grounds, it is often incredibly easy to enjoy the brew as is. You do not want or need to dress the brew up with the flavor disguises of sugar and or milk.
